The General Assembly is the supreme body of the organization and meets at least once every four years to decide on the direction of AIPP and to elect its new Executive Council (EC). The EC is the governing body of the organization. EC is composed of 7 members. The six sub-regions of AIPP elects one representative each from their own region and the Secretary General (seventh member) is chosen by the General Assembly.
The President of the EC is chosen by the EC members from amongst themselves. The Secretary General is the chief functionary of the organization and supervises the daily working of the secretariat.
At present, Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) has 39 members, including 11 candidate members from 13 countries in Asia. These candidate members are approved by the Executive Council (EC) during this tenure. Their confirmation as full-fledged members will take place in mid 2011 when they are endorsed by the General Assembly (GA). Of these 39 members, 8 are national federations.
